Interoperability between Yahoo and Windows Live Messenger was launched July 12, 2006. The resolution of the images could be seen starting at 320×240 pixels or 160×120. The service was free with provided speeds averaging from a range in between 1 and 2 frames per second.

Messenger up to date, Facebook chat has been integrated into the latest version, along with social games like Mafia Wars. In some cases, ads may be show to the users.
